- WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? I am in Glendale, CA. I also teach online and currently work with students from NYC, Los Angeles, Wisconsin, Ohio and San Francisco.
- WILL I GET THE SAME EXPERIENCE TAKING ONLINE? Honestly, this is up to the individual. For many people online works even better than in person. Besides the obvious issue of commuting, the lessons tend to be more intense. We're basically face to face and that requires you to be more engaged and me to catch issues quicker. Online students tend to have a higher success rate out in the field. That surprises me too but it's the truth.
- WHAT STYLE OF SINGING DO YOU TEACH? My specialty is musical theatre legit, belt and mix. I work with integrating the voice both in technique and in song. I also teach pop and rock. I do not teach opera.
- ARE YOU A COACH OR A TECHNIQUE TEACHER? I am both. I have 25 years experience teaching voice and 15 years experience teaching acting. I also play the piano and can accompany you if you are in person.
- WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? A coach will guide you through how the song is performed, the acting, the phrasing and the style. A technique teacher will teach you how to create a strong voice, teach you about sight reading, basic theory and help you build a strong vocal technique.
- WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING? I studied with three of the top voice teachers in the country who teach musical theatre and opera technique. I also have a master's degree from NYU in educational theatre.
- DO YOU THINK ANYONE CAN SING? Yes! I absolutely do. I believe singing is a human skill, one we all have the gift of. Some people just have to work harder than others to accomplish it.
- HOW DO YOU MAKE IT ON BROADWAY? Grit, dedication, practice, emotional flexibility and a healthy relationship with risk.
